Vettel: Mercedes “out of reach” for Ferrari in Melbourne
After his first official day in red, Sebastian Vettel reflected on the promising debut of the Ferrari SF15-T, even though he remains cautious and realistic about Mercedes' level.
Fifth in FP1 and third in FP2, Sebastian Vettel begins his story with Scuderia Ferrari on a good note, even if one should not draw too many conclusions from Friday, a session in which Ferrari often performed well last year.
The four-time world champion is satisfied even though he believes that the Star shines too far from the Prancing Horse: « It would be good to stay ahead of as many people as possible. I am sure that Mercedes is out of reach, we have to be realistic, but the most important thing is that we are driving and have no problems. It was very calm, and I don’t remember the last Friday I had like this, so from that point of view, it’s very good. »
« It was a good day. We had no problems with the car or reliability issues. It seems that the hard work done during private testing has been positive, » he added, as reported by Sky Sports. « In terms of performance, the higher you are the better it is, but it’s Friday and I’ve been in F1 long enough to know that Friday is not that important regarding times. »
