Hospitalized yesterday following a back pain, Valtteri Bottas is still uncertain less than an hour and a half before the start of the 2015 Australian Grand Prix.

The Finnish driver is suffering from soft tissue damage. In a statement, Williams indicated during the night that further scans revealed that Valtteri is suffering from soft tissue damage in the lower back. He stayed in the hospital overnight and after some rest, he is working with a physiotherapist in preparation for the FIA’s early afternoon decision to determine if he will be able to race. The team will issue a statement as soon as information is available.

For Sky Sports, Claire Williams indicated around 4:30 AM, French time, that a decision would be made within the hour regarding his participation in the race. At the same time, Andrew Benson, editor-in-chief for F1 at the BBC, stated on Twitter that Bottas’s participation in the race was likely.
