Wolff impressed by Ferrari’s progress
If Mercedes dominated the Australian Grand Prix by achieving a one-two thanks to Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, Toto Wolff, the head of the German team, said he was impressed by the progress made by Ferrari during the winter.
Fourth in the standings of the last Formula 1 World Championship, Ferrari doubled down during the winter to catch up on Mercedes. The first winter tests had hinted at a good potential in the latest creation from Maranello, the SF15-T, and Sebastian Vettel confirmed it by securing a podium behind the untouchable Silver Arrows.
« We won with a 30-second lead over Ferrari, but if you compare it to last year, it’s impressive,” Wolff explains to Universo. « We were able to analyze through GPS data that their engine is very powerful and that their car is very good.”
« I think they will join us, it’s just a matter of time, because Ferrari is a team that has all the elements to succeed.
The Reds will try to confirm next week during the Malaysian Grand Prix at Sepang, where the Mercedes are expected to once again dominate proceedings by taking advantage of the nature of the Malaysian track.
