The first weekend of the 2015 season was complicated for Red Bull. Daniel Ricciardo secured a very inconspicuous sixth place, while Daniil Kvyat could not participate in the Australian Grand Prix due to a technical problem during the installation lap to the grid.

His chief engineer, Paul Monaghan, explained the situation while remaining optimistic for the future: « After the post-race investigations, we found that the reason for the overheating of Daniil’s gearbox, and his inability to select a gear on the grid, was due to a lack of oil pressure. As a factory team, we have worked hard to ensure that this does not happen again. We have the best team in place to repeat our success and we are working as hard as we can to improve before Malaysia »

Daniil Kvyat also spoke in Autosport: « The first weekend was difficult, but we learned a lot of things. Of course, the race didn’t go as I would have liked, but this weekend went like that. Now I am looking forward to driving in the upcoming Grand Prix ».

The former Toro Rosso driver is also optimistic for the next Grand Prix in Malaysia:

« We will be ready in Malaysia even if we have little time. After Australia, I wanted to leave that weekend behind me as soon as possible and start focusing on Malaysia. We have good potential that we will use and get the best out of. »

His teammate Daniel Ricciardo finished 6th in Melbourne.
