Fernando Alonso “will be in Malaysia”
Fernando Alonso's agent indicated that his driver "will" be present in Malaysia even if the decision will depend on the medical visit with FIA doctors.

On the sidelines of an event organized in La Morgal, in the Principality of Asturias, where a sports complex is being built that will bear the name of the double Formula 1 world champion, Fernando Alonso’s agent, Luis Garcia-Abad, expressed confidence regarding his driver’s presence in Sepang.
« Fernando will be in Malaysia, » he declared, quoted by Marca, before indicating that the recovery of the McLaren driver was complete. Since the middle of the week, Alonso has been back in his team’s simulator in Woking and is working towards the Malaysian race.
He was the victim, on February 22, of an accident during private testing in Barcelona that resulted in a concussion, followed by loss of consciousness and temporary memory loss. He had to withdraw from the Australian Grand Prix and was replaced by Kevin Magnussen.
The final decision will, however, depend on the medical examination, which is scheduled to take place this Sunday, conducted by FIA doctors who will decide if the Spaniard can resume competition.
At the same time, the Gazzetta dello Sport indicated that the accident could cost insurers of the Bull of Asturias 1.8 million euros in compensation. The Italian newspaper explains that contracts with the teams contain a clause that requires the driver to be in a suitable physical condition for each race. Alonso’s withdrawal, provided it is not the responsibility of the team—something that the initial elements presented by McLaren seem to rule out—should therefore lead to compensation calculated based on the driver’s salary, estimated at more than thirty million euros in 2015.
