Niki Lauda hails Sebastian Vettel’s victory with Ferrari; the former triple world champion believes that Sebastian Vettel’s victory will help him regain a good image in the eyes of some.
While Mercedes was the favorite in Sepang, Niki Lauda cannot take pleasure in seeing Ferrari claim a victory. Nevertheless, the former Ferrari driver will help Vettel to strengthen his image as a worthy champion.
Sebastian Vettel has competed in two Grand Prix with Ferrari, earning two podiums in his new colors. The former Austrian driver pays tribute to him on the site Crash.net: « They were unbeatable because they executed a perfect strategy, and Vettel did an incredible job with their car; the tires lasted. I went to congratulate them wholeheartedly because it’s fair play, and the greater the competition, the better it is for the sport. »
Recently, Bernie Ecclestone criticized the four-time German world champion, according to Lauda this victory will do a lot of good for his reputation both inside and outside: « If Ferrari wins, Bernie can no longer complain about a boring Vettel. Now Vettel is no longer boring. I think this result is very good for the overall image of Formula 1. »
Toto Wolff and Christian Horner believe that Ferrari’s return to the forefront is a good thing, while the Mercedes were at a very high race pace.
Toto Wolff thus pays tribute to Ferrari: « Ferrari deserved to win. From a racing perspective, it must be acknowledged that they made a great development this winter. For Formula One, this is positive, after all the talks that were held in Melbourne. Last year, we had an amazing race in Bahrain, this is what Formula 1 needs. »
Christian Horner also accepts Ferrari’s victory, which will inevitably have a positive impact on the sport according to him: « I think it’s healthy for Formula 1. It was a good day for Formula 1 really. Not a great day for us, but a good day for Formula 1 that in a pure and simple race they managed to beat the Mercedes. »
