Felipe Nasr expects a challenging rest of the season
Currently eighth in the World Drivers' Championship, Felipe Nasr is having a magnificent start to the season. However, the Brazilian driver expects to be ejected from the top 10 in the coming weeks.

During the Spanish Grand Prix, no Sauber finished in the points, with the young Brazilian ending up 12th in the race. One of the 2015 rookies expects a more challenging remainder of the season: « I am happy to be doing a good job that is on the right track, but I am not satisfied with 12th place. I want to get back into the points, but I think we did the best we could. This is where we are at the moment. Our main competitors have quite a bit of an edge over us in terms of updates, and we are very limited in development. Currently, I am driving the same car I was since Australia. That’s the truth »
The next two races of the season will be held in Monaco and Canada, two races where Sauber could score points. But beyond that, it could get tougher, according to Felipe Nasr: Going to Monaco, it’s a track with many low-speed corners that could suit us a bit better. I’m not creating a lot of expectations, but we might achieve a better result than in Barcelona, maybe in Montreal as well, given the long straights and low-speed corners that could be to our advantage.
He explains the main weakness of the C34 Sauber to our colleagues at Crash.net: “Our main weakness is the downforce on the car, we don’t have enough downforce on the car. We were losing 23 km/h compared to Toro Rosso. We lost a lot of time in sectors one and two in Barcelona, but we were on pace with a Red Bull in sector three. That’s because our car is very strong in slow corners, but we’re missing so much speed in the fast corners to have a good average speed.”
The young rookie hopes there will be updates for the rest of the season: « I think during the summer break, there will be updates coming. There will be some major updates in the middle of the season until the end of the year. But in the meantime, I’m sure we’ll have some tough races ».
