Pastor Maldonado hopes luck will turn in Monaco
After five races without scoring a single point, Pastor Maldonado hopes that luck will finally be on his side starting in Monaco this weekend.

During the 2015 season, Pastor Maldonado has yet to score a point while Romain Grosjean has accumulated all those capitalized by Lotus. At the Spanish Grand Prix, the French driver scored more valuable points at the expense of the Venezuelan driver. He therefore hopes to score his first points in Monaco: « Our luck wasn’t great, but it happened during the race, one of the plates holding the rear wing was damaged and I was struggling early in the race, we lost some downforce. However, the pace was still there and I pushed the car to the maximum but we had to retire on the 45th lap. »
He reflects on the race incident and the touch with Romain Grosjean: « It was a very small touch. He came close to me, but we were passing, it was a racing incident. We have a car with a lot of potential and we are always fighting towards the top of the standings. We have a good engine and our tires last longer, and that makes us confident because we can achieve good results in the near future. We need to stay strong, and as soon as the bad luck passes, it will be very fun ».
The former GP2 champion hopes that luck will be on his side after a very productive day of testing in Barcelona.
« Monaco is a historic Grand Prix and an iconic race for F1. I really love it, I’ve been very fast in the past and I think it’s one of the most special weekends of the year. Monaco is a circuit where there is a very different approach for the team and the drivers. I’m working 100% to be ready. The car is in good shape, and we discovered things during the tests that make us confident before Monaco, so I’m looking forward to doing my best. We are expecting a specific aerodynamic package there, but I think we can do something good. We have good potential and we can do much better during the European tour.
Maldonado drove during the test day in Barcelona, he believes that the session was productive and bodes well for the rest of the championship: We had a long list of parts to test, but even in the 60 laps we did that day, we didn’t have enough time to test everything. A large part of the work we did was to prepare for the next race, but I experimented with different settings and aerodynamic combinations when we were in Enstone, which contributes to good preparation for Monaco and also for the upcoming races.
