Lotus congratulates Romain Grosjean for his perfect race
Currently plagued by serious financial and legal problems, Lotus can drink champagne to forget its troubles: the unexpected podium finish by Romain Grosjean in Belgium especially delights the Enstone team.

Federico Gastaldi, the Team Director, still couldn’t believe it on Sunday evening: « What a fantastic job by Romain today! We thank everyone’s hard work at Enstone and here at the circuit in Belgium. It’s no secret: in many ways, this is a tough season for us, but we sure know how to pick the moment to bounce back. »
Nick Chester, the Technical Director, also congratulated the hero of the day: « What a race by Romain and the team! We were very enthusiastic after Romain’s 4th place in qualifying, and today, he drove fantastically well. He really led a brilliant race and made all the right decisions with some fabulous overtakes. It was the perfect race from him. »
In the shadow of his teammate, Pastor Maldonado experienced a 7th retirement in 11 Grand Prix races. Yet his Lotus was particularly competitive on this fast and demanding track: “We did an amazing job this weekend, especially today. The car was behaving very well, it was very competitive and I had a good start,” pointed out the Venezuelan after the race.
Lotus found the causes of its early retirement, as revealed by Nick Chester: « We know he went over the curbs and that apparently caused some damage to the ECU [Electronic Control Unit]. It’s really unfortunate because we could have achieved a solid result here. »
In the constructors’ standings, Lotus has the luxury of being in 5th place, just one point ahead of Force India.
