Official: Perez remains with Force India in 2016
The Force India driver duo will not be changed one bit in 2016: after Nico Hülkenberg earlier this month, it is now Sergio Perez's turn to extend his contract with Vijay Mallya's team.

The suspense surrounding the future of Sergio Perez ended late Wednesday night into Thursday, with the confirmation of the Mexican’s extension with Force India for 2016. At one point rumored to be moving to Lotus to replace Romain Grosjean, who is heading to Haas, the 25-year-old driver ultimately chose continuity and security.
Sergio Perez is therefore preparing to enter his third season with Force India and is already looking forward to it: “I am very happy to confirm that I will be staying with Force India. This means I can simply focus on the essentials now – driving the car and scoring points for the team. Since arriving here, I have really matured as a driver and I feel that I am at my best.”
The Mexican has indeed delivered solid performances recently in the championship, even having the luxury of currently leading his teammate Nico Hülkenberg in the world championship. The improvements in his car certainly play a part in this, as he himself confirms: « I can feel the team’s potential, its positive energy, and this gives me confidence for next year. I think we can continue to achieve solid results and I will do my best to help the team move forward. »
The owner and director of the team, Vijay Mallya, is delighted to have secured an otherwise lucrative contract, thanks to the generous sponsors of the Mexican: « You only have to look at his results over the last three races [5th, 6th, and 7th] to see that he is at the top of his form. He has already done a fantastic job for us and when we give him a competitive car, we know he will get the job done. He also has a great attitude and never gives up – and this fighting spirit fits well with the team. »
Former Sauber and McLaren driver, Sergio Perez has been competing in Formula 1 since 2011. With Force India, he secured one of his four F1 podiums at the 2014 Bahrain Grand Prix.
