Sebastian Vettel does not understand the German public
Author of a complicated weekend in Mexico, Sebastian Vettel nonetheless appreciated the atmosphere in the stands among Mexican fans. The German driver is questioning the love of the German public for F1.

Starting from 3rd place, Sebastian Vettel was unlucky as he collided with Daniel Ricciardo, causing a puncture. Subsequently, the German driver retired on the 50th lap following an off-track excursion.
During the Mexican Grand Prix, 300,000 fans gathered on the Rodriguez brothers’ track over the three days, while the German Grand Prix did not take place this year due to a lack of interest from German fans and the financial difficulties this causes for the Nurburgring. This is something Sebastian Vettel cannot understand: “To be completely honest, I don’t understand what happened in Germany. It was very good before, but in recent years, there has been a decline in the number of spectators.”
However, the former Red Bull driver is looking for other reasons why the German Grand Prix doesn’t draw crowds, as he explains in Motorsport: “I think I’ve seen more German flags in Mexico than in Germany. I don’t know what’s happening. Maybe people are tired. Maybe the tickets are too expensive. It’s possible that people are spending their money more wisely.”
To conclude, the German driver does not understand why the German public does not show up for their national Grand Prix: « It’s unfortunate to see fewer spectators each year, even though German drivers are fighting for the win, it’s really a shame. On the other hand, it seems to me that in other countries, people demonstrate much more passion for motor racing. ».
