Bad luck followed Nico Hülkenberg before the Mexican Grand Prix. During the United States Grand Prix, the German driver retired due to a collision with Daniel Ricciardo, and during the Russian Grand Prix, he retired due to a collision with Marcus Ericsson right at the first corner. He found his way back to points at the Mexican Grand Prix where he even outperformed Sergio Perez, finishing in 7th place. With his Mexican teammate finishing in 8th place, Force India made a significant advance in the championship to finish in 5th place.

At the end of this season, the former Williams driver is motivated after a good Mexican Grand Prix: *We must always take care of our car. The temperatures were high, the brakes were at the limit and it’s quite challenging aboard the car. All this wasn’t very spectacular from outside the car, but inside, it was spectacular. After a few frustrating races, it’s great to finish in the points, with a 7th place, without incident.*

Force India currently has a 60-point deficit to Red Bull, a gap that Nico Hülkenberg believes Force India will not be able to close: « Red Bull has a comfortable lead over us. We must continue to achieve good results. Our goal will be to finish the last two races in the points, to secure 5th place in the constructors’ standings and recharge our batteries during the winter break ».

During the last Grand Prix, the German driver received a warm welcome which he explains in *Motorsport*, even though Sergio Perez was the star of the weekend: *”It was incredible. Sergio was obviously the local hero, but I must thank the crowd, because they warmly welcomed me. The fans consider me as one of their own, which is comforting. I loved the race and my visit to Mexico City. It was an extraordinary weekend.”*

If Force India achieves its goal, it would be their best result in their history. This would ensure that they remain in the exclusive club of teams present on the F1 Strategy Group, which defines the future of the sport.
