Lauda stays with Mercedes
Niki Lauda wanted to set things straight. Rumors had been circulating since the Mexican Grand Prix about a possible departure of the non-executive chairman of Mercedes, disagreeing with Toto Wolff. Finally, the Austrian leader clarified by announcing that he is staying.
The non-executive chairman of Mercedes explained himself to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung where he contradicted the rumors from the Times announcing a departure of the leader from Mercedes: « There is absolutely no discussion, I have a contract until 2017. I have no idea where these stories are coming from. After the Mexican Grand Prix, I told Sebastian that things hadn’t gone in his favor. Arriving in September 2012, Niki Lauda played a crucial role in bringing Lewis Hamilton, now a three-time Formula 1 World Champion.
