Jenson Button: « The car works better in the slow sections »
14th in the Mexican Grand Prix, Jenson Button had another anonymous weekend. The English driver reflects on the weaknesses of McLaren-Honda and expresses impatience when discussing the next season.

McLaren-Honda is experiencing a long desert crossing this season. The team based in Woking is ranked 9th in the constructors’ standings, ahead of only Manor Ferrari with 27 points, although the 8th place held by Sauber-Ferrari is still within reach with only a 9-point gap.
At the Mexican Grand Prix, the Anglo-Japanese team was penalized 70 grid positions for its 2 drivers. Jenson Button reflects on the weaknesses of the MP4-30: « The car works better in the slower sections. When Valtteri Bottas lapped me, I lost 1.5 seconds, but I managed to catch up with him later in the lap and be in the DRS zone » he revealed to Sky Sports.
And he elaborates: « This kind of slow sections works very well with the car. The power was correct, but we still have to work, but the very high-speed sections without turning the steering wheel are quite tricky. You can’t do anything about it. I’m doing everything possible in the car, we have a lot of work to do ».
Former Brawn driver longs for next year: « Hopefully Brazil and Abu Dhabi will be a bit better for us. Then, we will enjoy the winter and we are looking forward to next year ».
