Romain Grosjean believes that his best years are ahead of him
Author of a respectable season with Lotus, Romain Grosjean leaves Enstone to join the new Haas F1 Team in 2016. At 29 years old, the Franco-Swiss driver believes that his best years are ahead of him.

Haas F1 Team represents Ferrari’s B team. Romain Grosjean also wants to get closer to the Scuderia to, perhaps, become Sebastian Vettel’s future teammate: « Ask any driver in the world, and none of them will tell you they don’t want to drive for Ferrari one day. However, it’s not a major factor when I joined Haas F1 Team, but it’s good to know that this team was built in cooperation with Ferrari » the Frenchman recalled for Sky Sports.
The Frenchman has nevertheless decided to learn the language of Enzo Ferrari: « I understand Italian well, but I don’t speak it very well, I’m taking lessons »
After the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Pastor Maldonado’s teammate will end a 10-year collaboration with Enstone. He recalls his ultimate goal in the premier discipline of motorsport: « If you’re in F1, it’s to try to become World Champion, and I believe that being with Haas is the best way to achieve that in the near future. I think my best years are still ahead of me ».
For the record, Ferrari retained Sébastian Vettel and Kimi Räikkönen for the 2016 season, but the latter has a one-year contract with Ferrari, which could change the situation by the end of the 2016 season. Is Romain Grosjean eyeing the Finnish driver’s seat? « You have to believe in your luck. You try to do everything possible to make it happen, and usually, luck follows. The more opportunities you create, the better it will be. Ferrari is a dream in the next 2 years. Will it be in 2 years, 3 years, or 4 years? I don’t know. But I hope to drive a Ferrari before the end of my career ».
For this first season in F1, Haas F1 Team aims for a top 8 in the constructors’ championship. Grosjean believes that the American team will be better equipped than teams like HRT, Caterham, and Manor, which have settled for the back of the grid: « I like the way they come into F1, the partnership with Ferrari is a clever idea. The car should be operational for the first test, which is good news for a new team. I have seen pictures of the car, and it is a very beautiful car to look at. That doesn’t mean much, but it is always a pleasant feeling. I feel like we could be somewhat of a surprise in 2016 for many people ».
He reflects on his career as a driver that took him from Geneva to North Carolina: « I went through difficult times, good and bad times, and now I am ready to drive for an American team. I am still a French driver, but I am very proud to drive for an American team ».
