The Mexican Grand Prix was won by Nico Rosberg, marking his 4th victory this season, in front of a very happy crowd of fans. Several important voices in Formula 1, such as Niki Lauda, have spoken out to express that the Grand Prix has been the most successful event of the season thus far.

For our colleagues at Motorsport, Mexican businessman Carlos Slim, who supports the careers of Sergio Perez and Esteban Gutierrez, explains that the Mexican Grand Prix could become an essential stop on the F1 calendar: « The spectators who experienced this incredible event, and the viewers who watched it at home, were amazed. »

According to the businessman, the Mexican Grand Prix has a bright future: « It is an event that will continue to progress in the coming years, we hope, and in a few years, you will have a Mexican on the podium. We have been working for 13 years on bringing Mexico back to Formula 1. It had been 23 years since there was a Grand Prix there, despite the presence of several Mexican drivers during those 23 years. »

Of course, Sergio Perez was the idol of an entire people during the weekend, something Carlos Slim did not fail to acknowledge: « I know all the sacrifices Checo Perez made when he was very young, with all those seasons and everything that has happened, and suddenly this year, we have achieved the dream we had so much trouble putting in place, it’s sometimes very special. I know that every time Checo had the right equipment, he delivered great performances, sometimes even beyond people’s expectations. He’s already a very mature driver, someone very consistent, and I’m sure that next year, he’ll be even stronger. »

Next year, another Mexican will be on the starting grids of the Grand Prix. Indeed, Esteban Gutierrez has been officially announced in Mexico as a driver for the new Haas team in 2016, which delights the Mexican businessman: « For Esteban, he will have the chance to return to a race car and demonstrate not only his talent, because we know he has talent, but also his experience and everything he has learned from his time at Ferrari. I am sure he will have a great season. »

Mexico can boast of having received numerous accolades from the F1 world, as Slim likes to point out: « There have been some fantastic comments from teams, drivers, mechanics, and even from Bernie Ecclestone who said it was the best Grand Prix in many years. We are very happy. The winners of this weekend were the Mexicans and Mexico because they showed the world who we are and that the Mexican people are a great people. »
