Raffaele Marciello joins Artem Markelov at Russian Time

Raffaele Marciello thus discovered GP2 with Racing Engineering, after his title in European Formula 3. For the 2015 season, he decided to leave the Spanish team to join an Italian team, Trident. Thanks to his presence in the Ferrari Driver Academy, he was also a reserve driver for Sauber.

His 2016 season will be quite different since he will no longer be under the protection of the Scuderia. Indeed, he was not able to secure any victory in the previous season, and the Italian team has therefore decided to withdraw their support.

He nevertheless found a way to secure a seat in GP2 by joining Russian Time. Although the team was crowned in its debut year in 2013, it has not yet recovered from the loss of its founder Igor Mazepa and has also not been able to win a race during the past season.

The two parties will therefore be eager to make a comeback and regain their former glory, as explained by Svetlana Strelnikova, the team director: I’m delighted to welcome Raffaele to the team. He has consistently shown speed, and Artem has grown stronger as he adapted to the category. I am confident that with both drivers having two years of experience in the F1 feeder category, we will be able to gain momentum in an increasingly competitive category.
