Red Bull like a fish in water?
Will the Red Bull chassis express all its essence in the rain this year? The wet Friday in Melbourne certainly highlighted the qualities of the Austrian car, even if it is forbidden to draw any definitive conclusions...

Fourth and then third in the two free practice sessions, Daniel Ricciardo demonstrated that the Red Bull had a promising pace in the rain. But the Australian mainly notes, like everyone in the paddock, the difficulty of the weather conditions: « Today was the definition of Melbourne. Four seasons in one day, that’s what everyone says, and that’s what we had today. It’s a shame we didn’t get consistent running, but I’m not too frustrated given our position. I was quite happy with the laps in the car, and our ranking is rather decent. »
The venue of the event reacted with its usual nonchalance to the morning’s little scare: « I took a short detour into the gravel this morning, but I noticed there were many fans at turn 12 and I wanted to go greet them. »
Promising second in the first free practice session, Daniil Kvyat slipped to tenth place in the second free practice. Overall, he was also satisfied with the pace of his car: « Everything went well today, I think. The car behaved well right out of the garage, so that’s promising. Of course, we didn’t do many laps, but it was the same for everyone, and we tried to make the most of each lap. (…) There are not many lessons to be learned from today. (…) We still don’t know what the weather will be like tomorrow, so we just have to be patient and see what the day brings us » said the Russian.
The weather will undoubtedly be at the heart of the evening’s discussions.
