Frustrating Saturday, Exciting Sunday: Repeat?

The Qualifications system is once again in the eye of the storm after another surprising session. While Formula 1 and its decision-makers rack their brains, the 22 drivers prepare for the second Grand Prix of the season, held in Bahrain on the Sakhir circuit.

Lewis Hamilton will start for the 51st time in his career from Pole Position, ahead of Nico Rosberg and Sebastian Vettel.

While Mercedes made a strong impact in the final moments of Q3 by shattering the circuit record, the Ferrari drivers have the tough task of competing with them. Vettel and also Kimi Räikkönen will try to replicate the good start from Melbourne. The clutch system is, moreover, at the center of discussions, and many positions could be exchanged at the start.

Attention also to tire management: the drivers really only had the second Free Practice session to understand how they work. Surprises are to be expected!

Behind the “Fantastic Four,” Daniel Ricciardo will lead the pack of other drivers, but he will certainly be threatened by the Williams or the Toro Rosso… or even by Grosjean’s Haas, who had made a good move in Australia by securing sixth place.

We will also closely watch Stoffel Vandoorne’s first race, who arrived urgently from Japan to replace Fernando Alonso, who will observe his teammates from the pit lane.

Night falls in the desert of Bahrain… Time for the second race of the 2016 season on the Sakhir circuit!
