Jos Verstappen’s view of his son, Max
Jos Verstappen has been with his son since he started racing. Max's victory in Spain was obviously a high point for both men. But how does the father view his son?

The former Formula 1 driver, Jos Verstappen, was very emotional after the Spanish Grand Prix, which was won by his son, Max. The Dutchman, who raced for Benetton and Tyrrell between 1994 and 2003, expressed great pride in his son’s achievement at the highest level of global motorsport: « A lot has happened over the past two weeks, but the most important thing is that Max was able to handle it. He has worked incredibly hard, with a lot of enthusiasm, to be part of a leading team. He adapts quickly and has demonstrated that once again. »
For Jos, his son’s approach was the key to success in his first race with Red Bull: He’s cool, he knows what he’s doing, but that’s just how he is in life. He’s been racing his whole life, it’s almost natural for him. But winning a Formula 1 race is still really special, especially the way he won it. He always remained in control and made no mistakes. He deserves it!
Some might have been impressed by such a rapid rise in a Top Team. But Max Verstappen managed to handle it in a very professional manner, which might seem a bit bewildering for such a young boy. Even his father couldn’t believe it: « Arriving in a new team and succeeding to this extent is incredible! I never thought for a moment that it could happen so quickly after changing teams, not in this way, even though we knew he would have even more chances to win. »
