The tests took place over three days in Abu Dhabi, which will see the Formula 1 drivers compete in a few weeks as part of the 2016 championship.

The first day of testing took place under an ambient temperature of 34 degrees and 46 degrees on the track. The Red Bull completed 81 laps of the Yas Marina circuit on this occasion.

Pierre Gasly then embarked on a second day with no less than 59 laps in the morning and 44 in the afternoon, for a total of 103 laps under a temperature of 36 degrees in the air and 47 degrees on the asphalt, with a bit more wind than the day before.

Finally, for the last day, it was exactly under the same temperature that the last rounds of the session took place, with 93 laps completed.

Pirelli conducts these tire tests in collaboration with Mercedes, Ferrari, and Red Bull, the teams provide their modified 2015 cars to simulate the level of downforce of the 2017 single-seaters. These sessions aim to test the new tire dimensions planned for 2017.

Let us recall that Pirelli offered all Formula 1 teams the opportunity to take part in these tire tests, but only the aforementioned teams responded favorably to the call. The costs being the main obstacle to the participation of other teams. The data collected during these tests will, of course, be shared with all teams on the grid to prevent these tests from giving an unfair advantage to the participating teams.

The next tests will take place in November again with the Red Bull team on the same Abu Dhabi circuit, which will be the venue for the final round of the 2016 championship. After that, Pirelli has two test sessions remaining to conclude its program for this season from November 14 to 16, still in Abu Dhabi but this time with Ferrari to test the wet tires and finally a last session in Abu Dhabi with Mercedes, Red Bull, and Ferrari together.
