Pierre Gasly aboard the Red Bull in Abu Dhabi to test 2017 rain tires
Pierre Gasly, Red Bull's third driver and current GP2 runner-up with Prema, took part in Abu Dhabi on behalf of Pirelli in a new two-day 2017 tire testing session. These tests focused exclusively on wet track tires.

Red Bull was once again present in Abu Dhabi with its modified 2015 car to simulate the downforce of the new 2017 regulations, which require wider tires than today.
During these two days, Wednesday, November 2, and Thursday, November 3, the young French driver Pierre Gasly, who will be competing in the final round of the GP2 here, completed 286 laps on an artificially wet track, covering a little over 1,500 km. The two types of wet-weather tires, the intermediates and the full wets, were thus able to be tested.
This session also marks the end of rain tire testing, which began with Ferrari in early August at Fiorano and with Mercedes at the Paul Ricard circuit on September 21 and 22.
The next Pirelli tests will continue from November 15 to 17, again at the Yas Marina Circuit, with Ferrari this time, to test the manufacturer’s dry track specifications.
