Ferrari: Crash Test and Presentation Date of the 2018 Single-Seater
The single-seater with which Ferrari will compete in the upcoming 2018 Formula 1 season has successfully passed the mandatory crash tests. Moreover, the Italian team had previously announced the date of its car's presentation.

It was at the Multidisciplinary Behavioral Certification and Analysis Center, located in Bollate near Milan, on December 22, that all the mandatory homologation tests required by the FIA took place. This organization is recognized by the institution itself as having the capacity to perform dynamic tests.
Mattia Binotto, Ferrari’s technical director, was present to witness the success of the static and frontal crash test. It should be noted that the Halo was mounted on the car during the various tests. The equipment, which will be mandatory starting in 2018, must prove to be more resistant than the monocoque for the homologation to be validated.
The Scuderia’s machine is therefore ready to be presented on February 22 during a ceremony broadcast on the Internet. It will take place directly at the Montmeló circuit near Barcelona, where the winter tests will be held from February 26 to March 1 and then from March 6 to 9.
But the work on the single-seater is far from over as the aerodynamics still need to be worked on. Additionally, there is still work to be done on the steering and suspensions to comply with the new FIA technical directive published by Charlie Whiting. Indeed, although it is difficult to know if teams will actually be penalized in case of infringement, the change in ride height must not exceed 5 millimeters between the highest and lowest steering positions. Simply put, when the steering wheel is turned to the maximum, the suspension must not twist more than 5 millimeters.
This therefore forces Ferrari to thoroughly rework its suspension, just like Red Bull, McLaren, and Renault, a few weeks before the start of the season.
