The concept of the F1 single-seaters starting from the 2021 season was revealed by Liberty Media. Ross Brawn, in charge of this mission for the owner of F1, explained the new expectations and the reason for this evolution: « We want cars that are more beautiful than those you see in a video game, cars that kids want to have on their walls. »

F1 wants to attract again, but the technical and spectacle aspects will not be neglected: Once the cars are a few lengths from each other, they lose 50% of their downforce. It’s a substantial loss of performance. We have therefore started to understand why and how we could improve it, Brawn further explains.

Three concepts were thus presented on the discipline’s official website. None of these three are final at the moment, and the designs may still evolve significantly in the coming months.
