Ocon and Magnussen disqualified from the United States Grand Prix!
Shortly after the race, the two cars of Esteban Ocon and Kevin Magnussen were removed from the United States Grand Prix standings.

Certainly, the United States Grand Prix was surprising even after the race was over! Kimi Räikkönen’s victory, Lewis Hamilton’s wait to be crowned, and now the disqualification of two Top 10 cars.
Indeed, Esteban Ocon and Kevin Magnussen were quickly disqualified from the race by the stewards, a few minutes after the finish, once their cars were inspected.
For the Force India driver, it’s an overconsumption of fuel in the first lap that resulted in his disqualification. A technical infraction explained as best as possible by Otmar Szafnauer, the team’s Sporting Director: « What happened is that there was a peak flow, then a dip, so if you consider the entire lap, it’s neutral. If you consider the whole lap, there is no infraction, but it depends on how you divide the lap. It’s the first time this has happened. »
The Norman driver was disgusted after learning of the penalty: « Being flat out the entire race, reaching the points, and finally being disqualified for a stupid reason! Probably the worst feeling… » he expressed on his Twitter account.
For Kevin Magnussen, the reasons for his disqualification are quite similar to the Frenchman’s, except that it was his fuel consumption throughout the race that was questioned. The Dane exceeded the allowed limit of 105 kg of fuel. This did not fail to elicit a reaction from the Haas driver: « Unfortunately, today we were running in a fuel-saving formula rather than Formula 1. And we used 0.1 kg (!) too much over the entire race, so we were disqualified. »
These two disqualifications allow Sergio Pérez to take 8th place, ahead of Brendon Hartley in 9th, and Marcus Ericsson who rounds off the Top 10.
