The Paul Ricard Circuit gets a little facelift!
The FIA recently approved some changes made to the Circuit Paul Ricard regarding the pit lane entry and track surface.
Charlie Withing, FIA delegate, was present last week at the Circuit Paul Ricard to validate the track’s homologation following some changes.
These actions were taken following complaints from the Bol d’Or motorcyclists who found the tarmac laid last year dangerous. The Circuit Director, Stéphane Clair, then decided to redo the surfaces in the corners: « Specifically, all the corners have been redone. Only the straight lines remain unchanged. This asphalt seems to be of impeccable quality, so we have good reason to believe that the troubles are over. »
Another significant modification with a direct impact on Formula 1 is the relocation of the pit lane entrance. Previously situated at the beginning of the final straight and considered dangerous due to its entrance with a chicane on the right side of the track in the middle of the trajectory, it has been moved to the penultimate corner.
An important change that should also delight the spectators: Spectators of the next French Grand Prix who have purchased seats in the Pont sector stands will not regret their investment as they will enjoy a breathtaking view of the final sequence and the pit lane, concluded Stéphane Clair.
