Fernando Alonso would like to return to F1 to “rest”
With a very busy schedule in Endurance and IndyCar, the newly retired Formula 1 driver, Fernando Alonso, would like to regain the lighter pace of his years in the premier discipline of motorsport.

Recent winner of the 24 Hours of Daytona this weekend driving a Cadillac, Fernando Alonso hasn’t been idle since his last Formula 1 Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi last November.
Managing two racing programs concurrently, in Endurance and IndyCar, which could allow him to aim for the Triple Crown by winning the Indianapolis 500, the only event missing from his record to reach his Holy Grail, the Spaniard must face a prolific schedule that will hardly leave him time to rest this year, as he confided to our colleagues at grandprix.com: « I have more to do this year than in the past twelve months! »
A schedule that won’t lighten up in the months to come, almost making the former McLaren driver regret his routine in Formula 1: « Of course, it will be stressful for the guys in Formula 1 from the start of the season. But I haven’t had a single day of rest since and in February, testing with Toyota resumes. The Indy program will also start, so I will be very busy until June. I didn’t expect this busy schedule. Maybe I’ll return to the F1 paddock to rest a bit, » says the double Formula 1 world champion with his usual irony.
