Official: Sauber becomes Alfa Romeo Racing
The Alfa Romeo group takes full control of the Sauber team and thus renames the team competing in the 2019 Formula 1 World Championship.
The name Sauber will disappear from Formula 1 again! After partnering with Alfa Romeo, a brand from the FIAT group, at the end of 2017, the Swiss team will officially take on the name of the Italian brand starting from the 2019 Formula 1 season.

Our goal is to continue developing every sector of our team while allowing our passion for racing, technology, and design to drive us forward. » stated the team in a press release.
In 2019, the newly named Alfa Romeo Racing team will field a driver duo consisting of Kimi Räikkönen, a transfer from Ferrari, and Antonio Giovinazzi, also a member of the Scuderia’s Driver Academy.
