While Charles Leclerc was guiding his Ferrari towards an inevitable victory in Bahrain, a mechanical problem on the 46th lap relegated him to 3rd place and possibly further back if the Safety Car hadn’t come out due to the double Renault retirement. A small issue that will have significant consequences as it cost the Monegasque driver 5 seconds per lap. A very surprising problem as the F1 world was preparing to welcome the Ferrari’s young Prince as the 108th driver to step onto the top of the podium. But motorsport is cruel, and Leclerc will have to wait a bit longer for his first victory.

These reliability issues are all too familiar to Ferrari with their consequences to ignore. It is these same errors that, in 2017, turned the Asian tour into a nightmare for the tifosi.

The Italian team seems to have found what cost Leclerc the victory on the Sakhir track. It appears to be a short circuit in the injection system. Despite this problem, the prancing horse team has confirmed that the young Monegasque driver will use the same engine for the Chinese Grand Prix.
