Ricciardo disappointed with his Spanish Grand Prix: « It was a frustrating race »
None of the Renaults scored points this weekend in Spain! A situation that is too similar to that in Baku and which inevitably disappoints the French camp.

The Renault boys missed out on a strong performance this weekend. Following Nico Hülkenberg’s crash during the first qualifying session, Daniel Ricciardo had to step up. The least that can be said is that he managed to do so by securing the 10th fastest time. A mediocre performance, indeed, considering Renault’s investment in Formula 1 and the French team’s performances last year. But the RS.19 is a poorly born car, suffering from a very bad chassis.
Alas for the Australian, he started three places further back due to his collision with Kvyat in Baku. Nico Hülkenberg, on the other hand, started from the pits following an illegal wing change in qualifying. The race did not look promising for the brand with the diamond emblem.
And for good reason: Hülkenberg had a difficult race, never able to score points. The same goes for Ricciardo, who surely missed a chance to score points by battling all race with Carlos Sainz, who finished 8th! In the interview area, the former Red Bull driver lamented a very difficult race: It was a frustrating race. During the first part, we had a good pace with the tires. With the medium tires, it was impossible for me to overtake! The pace was good in the first two sectors but much more complicated in the third. I think we deserved better than 12th place, but we needed a perfect Sunday, which we didn’t have. The midfield is so tight that you quickly find yourself from 8th to 12th place. We need to do better next time!
With only 12 points on the board and a simple 7th place as the best result, the Renault Sport F1 Team has not yet accomplished anything significant in 2019. #SpanishGP 🏁 #RSspirit pic.twitter.com/K0w2DtmSHA — Renault F1 Team (@RenaultF1Team) May 12, 2019
