A rugby player squeezing into the narrow cockpit of a Formula 1 car seems like an impossible challenge? Yet, Guilhem Guirado, current captain of the French national rugby union team, accomplished this feat at the Circuit Paul Ricard.
The French international was invited yesterday, Wednesday, June 5, by the Var circuit, 3 weeks before the 2019 French Formula 1 Grand Prix. He had the opportunity to board a two-seater F1 car from the Winfield Racing School with Circuit Paul Ricard ambassador and driver Jean Alesi at the wheel, for a lap on the Formula 1 circuit.
Former hooker for the Racing Club of Toulon and currently with Montpellier Hérault Rugby, Guirado is probably one of the few rugby players to have attempted this unusual experience for an athlete of his stature…
