1.00

It is the second smallest margin in seconds at the finish of a French Grand Prix. This was the time that separated Juan Manuel Fangio from Karl Kling at Reims-Gueux in 1954. The same margin was observed again on the same circuit in 1961 between Giancarlo Baghetti and Dan Gurney.

1:28.319 – the fastest lap recorded on the Paul Ricard GP circuit, achieved this Saturday by Lewis Hamilton during his second attempt in Q3. This record beats and replaces the 2018 pole time by more than a second and a half, a time already set by the five-time world champion.

3: The number of pole positions acquired by Alain Prost on the Var circuit. A performance he achieved in 1983 at the wheel of a Renault, then driving a McLaren in 1988 and 1989.

The former McLaren driver also holds the record for consecutive wins between 1988 and 1990 on this same Provençal track.

4

The number of wins by Alain Prost himself. The French four-time world champion is the most victorious driver on his home soil. Despite two other wins elsewhere in France, Michael Schumacher still holds the record for the most French victories to this day.

It is also the record for consecutive pole positions set by Jim Clark between 1962 and 1965 on the circuits of Rouen-les-Essarts, Reims-Gueux, and Charade.

5

The number of French victories at the Paul Ricard circuit. Apart from Alain Prost’s four victories, René Arnoux delivered a very fine performance in 1982 by finishing first in the race at the wheel of his Renault. He then surpassed the one who was nicknamed: “the Professor.”

It is also about the record for pole positions. Held by Juan Manuel Fangio with his performances in 1950, 1951, 1954, 1956, and 1957 on the Reims-Gueux and Rouen-les-Essarts circuits.

10 The number of podiums for McLaren at Le Castellet. The British team, however, has only 3 victories, tied with Williams. Renault experienced success there in 1982 and 1983 but never finished among the top three again thereafter.

11: The number of different drivers who have won the French Grand Prix at the Paul Ricard circuit. Apart from Alain Prost and Nigel Mansell, no one has won twice on the Côte d’Azur.

It is also the record for French podiums, held by Michael Schumacher.

27

Le nombre de pilotes différents ayant grimpé sur un podium français. On peut compter parmi cette liste: James Hunt, François Cevert ou plus récemment Max Verstappen.

48

The number of overtakes observed in 2018. A significant number of overtaking maneuvers made this French Grand Prix the second race of the season in terms of overtakes. This was made possible in particular by the collision between Sebastian Vettel and Valtteri Bottas at the start, forcing both drivers to make a remarkable comeback.

206

The number of laps led by Alain Prost during various editions of the French Grand Prix held at Le Castellet. He is followed by Nigel Mansell, who led the race for 136 laps. Lewis Hamilton trails far behind with 52 laps as the leader.

220,322 The average speed of the fastest lap in history for a French Grand Prix by Jack Brabham. The performance dates back to 1966 during his victory at the Reims-Gueux circuit.

1949 The record for the most kilometers in the lead, achieved by Michael Schumacher.
