France – The Report on French Drivers: A Podium for Leclerc, Gasly Saves the Essentials!
With a small point for Pierre Gasly, the performance summary of the two French drivers can be quickly summed up. While Romain Grosjean struggled all weekend, the disappointment clearly lies with the Red Bull driver, finishing tenth after the penalty given to Daniel Ricciardo. Fortunately, the Monegasque Charles Leclerc clinches a beautiful third place!

Pierre Galsy: 10th
Starting on soft tires, it’s clear that this choice was the worst! Underperforming throughout the race, Gasly finished below Max Verstappen who delivered an honorable performance with his 4th place.
Interviewed in the media zone shortly after the Grand Prix, the Norman had little concrete and precise explanation, except for some unconvincing settings. However, these were adjusted between the qualifying and the race!
« In the car, I give everything, but I’m sliding everywhere! We need to understand why it’s not working. It’s not normal to have no grip with the car we have! It’s the first time I feel so little grip; we really have questions to ask ourselves. We’ll have to work to get everything back in place for next week. »
After this new challenging weekend, Gasly will have the mission of getting back on track during a crucial event for Red Bull: the Austrian Grand Prix, at home! The Frenchman will be closely watched…
Romain Grosjean: Retirement
Struggling all weekend, the Haas driver failed to make an impression in his home Grand Prix, called in by his team to retire after a lackluster performance. Yet Grosjean didn’t seem disheartened afterwards, strangely satisfied with his car: « The car was good. There is no understeer or oversteer but at the end of the lap the performance isn’t there. We need to understand why. I’m quite satisfied with my race, Kevin Magnussen started ahead and when exiting the pits I was ahead of him, that’s the only reference I have. It annoys me to retire once again in front of my fans, but strategically, it was the best solution. »
The only silver lining in his misfortune is that different solutions for optimizing parts are now available for Grosjean, in an effort to achieve a better performance in Austria, his reference Grand Prix of 2018, where he finished fourth.
In any case, the French Grand Prix did not favor the French drivers, just like last year. In the overall standings, only one point scored in two years, thanks to the penalty given to Daniel Ricciardo!
