Albon 10th in Hungary: « I had a nice battle with Kvyat »
Race after race, Alexander Albon continues to showcase the extent of his abilities by finishing in the points for the fifth time this season. A look back at his solid performance.

While he had entered the world of Formula 1 as a complete tourist, without any preparation, we must acknowledge that Alexander Albon knows how to handle a single-seater in the top category of motorsport. His latest performance is commendable with a 10th position at the end of the Hungarian Grand Prix.
12th on the grid, the Thai driver beat his garage neighbor. Calm at the start of the Grand Prix, the Red Bull protégé neither gained nor lost any positions. Albon found himself 10th after the round of pit stops.
Very close to each other since the lights went out, the two Toro Rosso drivers engaged in a game of cat and mouse with Albon as the prey and Kvyat as the hunter. After several laps of analyzing his teammate, the Russian finally decided to attack his teammate on the 19th lap by diving inside. What followed was a beautiful battle of switchbacks, counter-attacks, and side-by-side cornering. The London-born driver cracked at the 4th corner, temporarily admitting defeat.
« I had two great battles with Daniil. The first one was closer than the second. It was fun and it was a good fight. »
Stopping at the 28th lap, Albon then set consistent lap times to eventually overtake drivers like Sergio Perez and Nico Hülkenberg to enter the points zone.
« I had a good pace today. I didn’t feel very comfortable with the medium tires, so my first stint was rather average. But after I switched to hard tires, the car came back to life. I don’t think we could have done better than 10th, so we can be proud of ourselves. Now, we need to rest and understand where I can improve for the second part of the season.
LAP 19/70
😱 It took a fair few turns side-by-side but Kvyat has overtaken Albon for 12th
