Official: Robert Kubica has decided to leave Williams at the end of the season
Robert Kubica has informed his team, Williams, that he does not wish to continue his Formula 1 journey with them. The future of the Pole is not yet known, but several options are now available to him.

It’s not with a laconic statement released on the sidelines of the Singapore Grand Prix that Williams announced Robert Kubica will leave Williams at the end of the season.
Largely dominated by his teammate George Russell since the beginning of the year, despite the only point he scored for his team following the disqualification of the two Alfa Romeos at the German Grand Prix (still awaiting the appeal filed by the Italian-Swiss team), the Pole has decided to steer his career in a different direction next year: « I would like to thank the team for the past two years and for helping me make my return to the Formula 1 grid possible. I have enjoyed my time with ROKiT Williams Racing, both as a reserve and development driver and as a race driver, but I feel the time has come for me to move on to the next chapter of my career. »
Two options have been mentioned, unofficially, for the continuation of Kubica’s career, namely a full season in the DTM, the German Touring Car Championship, and a potential role as a test driver for the Racing Point team.
For the moment, Kubica’s future is unknown, but Williams wanted to thank the will and talent of his driver: « I would like to thank Robert for his hard work and respect his decision to leave the team at the end of the 2019 season. Robert has been an important member of the team both as a reserve and development driver, and then as one of our race drivers in 2019. We thank him for his sustained efforts throughout these two difficult seasons and wish him good luck in his future endeavors. » said Claire Williams.
