It is in a press release that the Formula 1 group revealed that this Mexican Grand Prix will be available on the streaming platform Twitch, best known for broadcasting video games.

An interesting partnership that allows F1 to extend its influence to a new community, but more importantly, to offer this weekend’s race for free. Unfortunately, France will not have access to this offer. Indeed, only Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark are involved. If this alliance works well, other Grand Prix could be available on Twitch and in other countries.

All sessions will be broadcast with a co-streamer. This will be an important personality such as the popular German videographer PietSmit, who has 2.6 million subscribers on YouTube. This clearly resembles a large mixing of communities. Several interactive elements will be available, such as predicting a driver’s performance over a 10-minute segment. Now, we will have to see how all these actions will be integrated.

Frank Arthofer, the digital director of Formula 1, states: « We are very happy to partner with Twitch to live stream the content of the Mexican Grand Prix. Audiences in Germany, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden will be able to visit the Twitch website and app to tune into all the action, whether it’s practice, qualifying, or the race. Twitch has an incredible reach, a unique creative touch on sports media coverage, and an engaged digital audience. They are an ideal partner for us on this project. »
