The Formula 1® and RM Sotheby’s entities will host the first dedicated vintage vehicle auction within the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix this weekend. The auction will offer the opportunity to acquire legendary race cars, as well as modern hypercars, while also including vehicles that have made their mark in their era with their exoticism.

The auction will take place on the starting grid of the race on Saturday evening and all vehicles put up for auction will be visible in the Fan Zone from Friday until the sale.

The main attraction of this sale is undoubtedly Michael Schumacher’s Ferrari F2002, world champion in 2002 and victorious three times during that season.

You can find the catalogue link of the sale presenting the different lots here.

For the first time sharing its schedule on the grid with an auction sale, Sean Bratches, F1’s managing director of commercial operations, is pleased with this event:

« We are constantly seeking to improve the fans’ experience, and even though not everyone will be able to take a part of motorsport history with them, we are excited for the fans who will be able to admire this incredible collection around this weekend’s race.

On their side, the prestigious auction house also does not hide its satisfaction with the way their event will be presented, indicates Maarten ten Holder, head of the group in Europe and principal shareholder of RM Sotheby’s.

« We observe a parallel passion for automobile racing between sports car collectors and F1 fans, as well as the adrenaline, present both in the auction room and on the track. The F1 Grand Prix has inspired the values of many vehicles sold by RM Sotheby’s and the stories that we have experienced around the world.

If it is certain that many of us will remain confined to the vision of the catalog, it is always pleasant to see the icons of the past come to life, whose visions and memories are part of our personal experience of motor racing.
