Following a disappointing 2019 campaign, the Renault team has decided to undertake a significant restructuring of its technical department based in Enstone, Great Britain.

If the engine was one of the satisfactions of the year for the French brand, the chassis was more disappointing, highlighting the team’s difficulties in achieving its podium goals. The primary person involved, Nick Chester, Technical Director, faces the consequences by being let go by his employer: “Nick has been a key part of Enstone for nearly twenty years. His passion for the team has never wavered despite extremely difficult moments. More recently, his commitment, technical knowledge, and enthusiasm have allowed us to move from the back of the grid to the front of the chasing pack. We sincerely thank Nick for all his contributions and wish him much success in the next stage of his career,” stated Cyril Abiteboul, Managing Director of Renault Sport Racing.

For his part, Nick Chester did not fail to salute his now former team: “I have enjoyed my nineteen years with a team where a great spirit prevails. I have worked with an incredibly loyal and talented group of people. I look forward to taking on a new challenge and wish all team members the best for the future.”

The British Pat Fry, coming from McLaren, had already been announced as a new addition to the team for 2020. He will likely take Nick Chester’s place for the next season.
