2019 Review – Sergio Perez: A Performer Condemned to Anonymity
The end of the year is approaching, and it's time to analyze the drivers' performances in 2019. Motors Inside offers you a look back at Sergio Perez's season. The 30-year-old driver who has always been convincing but never had the car to shine.

The seasons pass and look alike for Perez. Engaged in Formula 1 since 2011 and his first race with Sauber, the Mexican driver delivered solid performances throughout the 2019 season. Consistent results in a team undergoing reconstruction and a car he himself described as poorly born.
Checo, as some call him, is the national figure of the Mexican Grand Prix. Moreover, the Mexican event has been kept on the calendar until 2022.
At home, the driver once again managed not to disappoint his fans this year by finishing in 7th position, which means best of the rest.
The rest of the races, the driver always managed to optimize the result for his team. Benefiting from favorable circumstances during the races in Germany and Spa, and achieving at times beautiful battles like the ultimate race of the season where he crossed the checkered flag in 7th position, on merit after a spectacular overtake on Lando Norris in the final laps of the race.
A rather positive 2019 assessment for the Mexican. Managing to secure the 10th place in the drivers’ standings at the last minute, Sergio Pérez’s performance contrasts with the meager haul of his teammate Lance Stroll. With his 52 points, the Mexican was responsible for over 70% of his team’s total points.
Like Nico Hülkenberg, whose talent is recognized by everyone but has an austere track record, Perez is also increasingly approaching the end of his career. With his extension at Racing Point until 2022, the 29-year-old Mexican driver is left hoping for a miracle to secure his first career win next season.
