The Paul Ricard circuit rewarded by the FIA
Host of the French Grand Prix since 2018, the Paul Ricard circuit has been awarded the 3-star certification by the FIA, recognizing good practices and commitment to sustainable development.

The Paul Ricard circuit is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. In addition to a plentiful and varied calendar (GT World Challenge, ELMS, Bol d’Or, Formula 1, Rallycircuit…) to celebrate this occasion, the track has been awarded the 3-star certification, which recognizes good practices and commitment to sustainable development.
To date, the Paul Ricard circuit is the only track in France to hold this title and the second Formula 1 circuit in the world. Enough to delight its Director, Stéphane Clair: « Once again, I am very proud of the work done by the circuit teams, led by Nathalie Reitzer, our director of human resources and sustainable development on this project. Everyone demonstrated unwavering commitment during almost a year of audit by the FIA. We should be proud to become the first and only French circuit and the second F1 circuit in the world to achieve the highest level of this environmental certification. »
A distinction that encourages the circuit to go even further: “It is a nice reward but it is not an end in itself. We must continue our efforts, be even more innovative, more concerned, and consider improvements in line with the FIA’s suggestions. It’s a daily commitment that continues on and on,” he states.
Indeed, these engagement actions for sustainable development are materializing in several ways at the Castellet circuit: « From the renovation works of the circuit in the early 2000s, the site was designed to be sustainable and in harmony with its environment. Since then, numerous measures have been implemented: rainwater harvesting, bee monitoring, 24/7 noise emission measurement and mitigation through tree planting and the creation of an embankment, tire recycling, can sorting, and the development of gentle sports activities. The circuit has also equipped itself with a fleet of electric and H2 vehicles, photovoltaic canopies, electric vehicle charging stations, and since 2018, a hydrogen production and distribution station. Sustainable development is part of our identity and this ambition is shared by all our collaborators on a daily basis. » concludes Stéphane Clair.
