The McLaren MCL35 takes to the track in Barcelona
After an official presentation in Woking, McLaren is in Spain for the first laps of its 2020 single-seater, the MCL35.
A few days before the start of winter testing, the MCL35 made its first laps on the Catalan circuit. The Woking team was able to conduct a shakedown limited to 100 km with demonstration tires provided by the Italian manufacturer Pirelli.
These control tests primarily allow us to see if the single-seater is functioning correctly and to correct some minor issues before the start of winter testing, as well as to shoot promotional videos for the team’s sponsors.
McLaren, who finished 4th and « best of the rest » last year, aims to maintain its place in the championship this year with an unchanged lineup. Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris will be driving the MCL35 this season, which will be powered by the Renault engine.
This year will also mark the end of the partnership between the Woking team and its engine supplier, Renault. Indeed, McLaren will be powered by Mercedes starting from the 2021 season.
Only 2 days left before seeing all the Formula 1 cars on track again. The winter testing will take place at the Barcelona circuit from February 19 to 21, and then from February 26 to 28.
