In 2019, Ferrari made its grand debut in F1 Esports after a year of absence. The Scuderia impressed right from the start by winning the first two races of the season (Bahrain and China) with a fierce David Tonizza at the wheel who already showed he would be a serious contender for the title. So serious that he went on to win the championship by securing two more victories later in the season, making him the driver with the most wins in 2019. While Frederik Rasmussen and Daniel Bereznay were the two main favorites to end Brendon Leigh’s reign, it was the Italian rookie who managed to bring Mercedes down.

Unfortunately for Ferrari, its other two drivers, Amos Laurito and Gianfranco Giglioli, failed to perform this season and neither of them managed to finish in the points even once. A critical situation for the Italian team, which had to fight for the championship with only one driver. And despite all the efforts of Tonizza and his 184 points scored, Red Bull won the title with a 62-point lead.

In order to address this issue, the team with the prancing horse has signed the talented Enzo Bonito, who has already raced two seasons for McLaren Shadow. Experienced, the Italian will be an ideal teammate for David Tonizza. Having finished in 12th place in the championship in 2019, Bonito will need to prove that he can compete for the championship.

Marco Mattasa, director of the Ferrari Driver Academy, seems delighted with this pair of drivers: “We, at the FDA Hublot Esports, are very happy to announce that David Tonizza and Enzo Bonito will be part of our sim driver lineup for the 2020 F1 Esports Series season. I believe that together, they will demonstrate their potential throughout the season, and I expect them both to fight for the drivers’ title, which will also allow us to challenge for the team championship.”

It’s a very exciting line-up that Ferrari has offered us with two drivers who will have the heavy task of bringing the two titles back to Maranello despite the competition looking fiercer than ever.
