Racing Point secures its driver lineup for the 2021 season
By signing Lance Stroll until 2021, Racing Point is committed to continuity and renews its confidence in its duo Stroll - Perez. This announcement from Racing Point has put an end to the wildest ideas of ongoing negotiations with Vettel or Alonso.

The departure of Sebastian Vettel from Ferrari has created a stir in the transfer market despite the 2020 season not having started yet. Racing Point, which will become Aston Martin next season, has confirmed the extension of Lance Stroll’s contract until 2021, and other teams are also working to announce their drivers for the 2021 season.
The boss of Racing Point wanted to put an end to the speculations about possible negotiations with driver Sebastian Vettel, currently without a seat, to potentially make a marketing impact with the new Aston Martin partnership.
Otmar Szafnauer, the team principal, stated that despite the presence of world champion drivers on the market (editor’s note: Alonso and Vettel), his team prefers to bet on the drivers with whom they are already engaged.
And as every time the topic of the Canadian driver’s fate comes up, the insinuations about Lance Stroll’s seat in F1 being due to nepotism, as the son of Lawrence Stroll, the main shareholder of Racing Point, have resurfaced. The question was brushed aside by Szafnauer, asserting that Lance could achieve great performances if he was given a competitive car.
With Lance Stroll’s contract running until 2021 and the reliable Sergio Perez secured until 2022, Racing Point can calmly prepare for the introduction of the new F1 regulations.
