Sergio Perez placed in isolation
Will Sergio Perez be allowed to come to Silverstone? He is currently absent due to an inconclusive Covid-19 test.

F1 took a two-week break after three consecutive race weekends in Austria and Hungary. At each race, a “health bubble” is set up to prevent any member of the paddock from potentially catching Covid-19 and transmitting it to the rest of the participants. To enter, one must undergo a new test.
Now it is precisely this entry test at Silverstone for which Sergio Perez has been declared “inconclusive”. The Mexican is therefore currently absent from the British paddock. The team has thus confirmed: « He is in isolation awaiting the result of the new test. » Other team members are also enduring the same fate because they were recently in contact with the driver.
The operations of the team should not be too disrupted by such news since they are playing at home, in close proximity to their headquarters. However, if the re-test confirms a positive result, Sergio Perez would not be able to enter the paddock and therefore would not be able to participate in the race.
For this type of situation, Racing Point has an agreement to use a reserve driver from Mercedes, namely Stoffel Vandoorne or Esteban Gutierrez. However, it seems that the Belgian is not planning to make the trip as he has to prepare for the final six events with Mercedes in Formula E. Therefore, the Mexican is leading the race to replace his compatriot, having last competed in a Grand Prix in 2016 with Haas.
