Valtteri Bottas will remain with Mercedes in 2021

Valtteri Bottas will indeed stay for at least a 5th season with Mercedes. The Finn has shown very good things since the end of the 2019 season and the start of the 2020 edition, his extension was an obvious decision.

We’re not even halfway through the season and Valtteri Bottas is already sure of keeping his seat at Mercedes next year. Winner of the Austrian Grand Prix, the Finnish driver has shown a very good pace since the start of the season and despite scoring no points at Silverstone, which hurts his title chase, Bottas seems to be the only driver this year capable of preventing Lewis Hamilton from seeking his 7th world crown, which would make him the equal of Michael Schumacher.

Arriving at the star-branded team in 2017 to replace Nico Rosberg, Valtteri Bottas had shown impressive performance that season by securing 3 victories, which helped Mercedes secure the constructors’ title. Although 2018 was much more challenging for the Finnish driver, he managed to bounce back and claimed 4 victories, including the first race of the season in Australia after dominating the Grand Prix with mastery.

Currently, Valtteri Bottas is the best choice for Mercedes. Very fast in both races and qualifications, he can occasionally beat his teammate Lewis Hamilton. However, over the course of the season, it’s indeed the Briton who sets a faster pace and seems unstoppable in his quest for the 7th crown.

Valtteri Bottas seems very happy to keep his seat at Mercedes next season: « I am very happy to stay with Mercedes in 2021 and to build on the success we have already experienced together. Thank you to all the team members and the entire Mercedes family for their continued support and trust in me. I am very proud to represent this great team and the three-pointed star on our journey together next year. »
