A technical issue spoiled the party at Red Bull in Q3
Max Verstappen was deprived of a potential front row start tomorrow for the Belgian Grand Prix due to a battery failure. The Red Bull team remains optimistic for the race and even hopes for a bit of rain to spice up the show.

Currently second in the Drivers’ World Championship, Max Verstappen stated that he and his team would fight to the end to make life difficult for Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes.
We are trying to do our best, like everyone else. In the end, we’ll see what the rest of the season brings us. They [Mercedes] are still far ahead of us, but we will not give up. That’s the team’s mentality, always continuing to fight to take advantage of every opportunity we have.
We observed it in qualifying today, he and his teammate Alex Albon extracted the best from their cars by placing 3rd and 5th respectively.
For Alex Albon, it was an electrified Daniel Ricciardo who snatched a potential 4th place from him. Nevertheless, it’s worth noting a nice rebound on his part in pure performance. Enough to reassure his employer?
For Max Verstappen, he falls short by 15 thousandths of a second behind Valtteri Bottas. And that’s already a small feat considering that the Mercedes is truly above the pack this year.
« Coming here we thought it would be very difficult for us. But overall, it’s been a very positive weekend for us so far. »
Said the Dutch driver after his qualifying session.
He also adds,
We qualified in third position and very close to Valtteri… Of course, it’s still half a second behind Lewis. That being said, I think we can be more than satisfied with this result.
The in-house philosophy is therefore well respected.
One downside nonetheless, Max Verstappen admitted to suffering an ERS failure during his last flying lap:
The lap was clean, but I lacked a bit of power. Nevertheless, it was distributed throughout the entire lap.
Ultimately, the Red Bull clan is quite optimistic for tomorrow. Max Verstappen even hopes for a bit of rain to have some “fun” challenging Lewis Hamilton.
« I hope the weather factor will come into play. Rain makes everything a bit more difficult for everyone, but it also becomes more fun. And particularly on this track, if the weather is unpredictable, it becomes very “fun. »
We also hope for this to avoid another procession like in Spain last week.
