Ferrari celebrates its 1000th Grand Prix with a retro livery
Ferrari will celebrate its 1000th participation in a Formula 1 Grand Prix this weekend, the first nod from the Maranello firm, the SF 1000 will sport a darker red, the one from their first Grand Prix.

If, sportingly, the morale is not soaring for the reds, the Tuscan Grand Prix will still be an opportunity to celebrate an important anniversary. Indeed, Ferrari will celebrate its thousandth participation in a Formula 1 championship event.
That is why, this weekend, you will be able to discover a dark red SF1000, called “Amaranth,” a red reminiscent of the one they used during the Monaco Grand Prix in 1950. The drivers’ suits will also be redesigned to match this anniversary livery and will have a 1950s look. The helmets of both drivers will also be special, and you will be able to see a reproduction of several iconic single-seaters of the brand on Charles Leclerc’s helmet.

Piero Ferrari, vice-president of the Maranello manufacturer, explained that: “The 1000th Grand Prix of the Scuderia Ferrari is a very important milestone, and it therefore had to be celebrated in a very special way.” “That’s why we decided to use a unique livery on the cars for this event: the SF1000s will take to the track at the Mugello Circuit with the burgundy color first seen on the 125 S, the first race car to carry the Ferrari name. Even the numbers on Charles and Sebastian’s cars will reflect past tradition, giving the impression of having been hand-painted on the bodywork, while the drivers’ suits will match the color of the car.”
« It is a homage to our origins, the starting point of the incredible history of Ferrari, characterized by an infinite desire to compete, combined with the drive to build road cars that are exceptional in terms of technology and design. Ferrari is unique in the world, because the company has the soul of both a car manufacturer and a racing team, an inseparable bond that is never questioned. »
« Only a few months ago, no one could have imagined that our 1000th race would take place on our own circuit, the Mugello. I am happy that Formula 1 chose to pay tribute to Ferrari, the only team always present throughout the 71 seasons of the sport, in the official name of the Grand Prix. »
For its part, Mercedes has also announced its intention to pay tribute to the prancing horse by painting the safety car in a “Ferrari” red.

« We will honor this achievement with a Mercedes-AMG safety car in Ferrari red – our nod to a racing team that has given us some of the greatest moments in Formula 1 » said Toto Wolff, director of the Mercedes team.
Finally, Mick Schumacher will take part in this anniversary by driving the single-seater that his father drove in 2004. Quite a symbol, as it was with this Ferrari that Michael Schumacher won his 7th and final world championship title.

Let’s hope that Ferrari’s anniversary weekend doesn’t resemble the one celebrated by Mercedes last year at the German Grand Prix. The German team experienced a disastrous weekend with a retirement and an interminable pit stop, reminiscent of the 1950s.
