Tuscan Grand Prix: Ricciardo so close to the podium
After holding his position on the podium, the Renault driver narrowly misses out on a Top 3 finish, behind Alex Albon's Red Bull. Frustrating for Daniel Ricciardo!
Starting 8th, Daniel Ricciardo managed his race well, avoiding various collisions, finishing in a very impressive 4th position at Mugello this Sunday.
Voted driver of the day, the Australian can still have some regrets as he narrowly misses out on a podium that was within his reach.
In third position on the grid during the 2nd restart (due to Lance Stroll’s accident), the Renault driver made a superb start allowing him to take 2nd place, just behind Lewis Hamilton.
With cold tires, Daniel Ricciardo showed some difficulty finding an optimal rhythm in the lap following the start. He was logically caught up and overtaken by Bottas at the end of the straight.
Fourth, Alexander Albon was also aiming for his first podium. The duel between the former Red Bull driver and Albon was anticipated, and the latter did the job with six laps to go.

Fallen to 4th, his final position at the end of this Tuscan Grand Prix, Ricciardo misses a much-anticipated podium for Renault. The last top 3 as a constructor for the diamond brand dates back to April 2011, with a third place secured by Nick Heidfeld in the Malaysian Grand Prix.
At the end of this eventful race in Tuscany, Ricciardo was understandably disappointed:
« The 4th place is difficult. I am so close to the podium every time! The next step is the podium, but I don’t know if it’s going to happen. »

Visibly affected by this small disappointment, Ricciardo will have to rally to reach that top 3 by the end of the season, before his departure to McLaren.
