Disappointment for the Turkish Grand Prix which will be held without spectators

The day after the confirmation of the Turkish Grand Prix on the 2020 calendar, the hope of seeing spectators at the Istanbul Park circuit falls through. The ambition was high after targeting an attendance of 100,000 people for this Grand Prix weekend.

After six editions between 2005 and 2011, featuring epic scenes including the contact between Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel, the Turkish Grand Prix has been rescheduled for the 2020 season.

For the race to be held in the second week of November, the organizers had implemented a plan with a capacity reduced by more than 50% and a pricing policy starting at 3 euros to ensure the return of the public to Formula 1. However, this will not happen, as the health authorities of the Istanbul region decided today to hold this event behind closed doors.

This decision certainly does not please the organizers, but Formula 1 has stated that it understands this measure, which is being taken due to the evolution of the epidemic in the country, and that the safety of everyone remains the priority.

While waiting for the Turkish Grand Prix, we leave you with a selection of the best moments on the Istanbul Park circuit.
