The Frenchman has been part of the team since its early days. Indeed, when the French constructor decided to make a full return to Formula 1 in 2016, Jérôme Stoll was appointed President of the Renault Sport entity in charge of the Formula 1 branch.

Stoll will have spent 5 years with the team to bring Renault back to the top. He will have worked internally to strengthen the organization’s team already in place after the acquisition of Lotus.

Renault, which will become Alpine next season as part of the Group’s commercial development, will therefore see one of its executives step down.

These five years as president of Renault Sport Racing have been very intense. Taking on the challenge of rebuilding an F1 team is difficult, it requires time, commitment, and unwavering determination. A first step has been taken with a team and drivers that we can now see on the podium. I am aware of the privilege of being able to participate in all these changes and all our progress. Motorsport, and even more so Formula 1, is above all a human adventure, encounters, bonds that are forged, joys, disappointments, and invaluable rewards, comments Stoll.

As president of Renault Sport Racing, Stoll also led Renault’s program in other championships, including Formula E and the Eurocup championships.

The Formula E titles and seeing young drivers race in our cars in the Eurocup or Clio Cup have been an integral part of what has been a wonderful experience. I owe a lot to every collaborator in this company. They are committed and determined to do their best to enhance our brand and values. A new chapter now opens with Alpine and I am sure the best is yet to come. I am happy and proud to have been part of this beautiful adventure with such amazing people.

Renault Sport’s managing director, Cyril Abiteboul, thanked his president for the five years spent by his side:

What a long way we have come together since the beginning of the project in June 2015 to the podiums this season. Jérôme’s passion for competition and his loyalty to the men and women of the team have been invaluable help over the years. His support and strategic vision have allowed us to overcome many obstacles and advance our ideas in an increasingly complex environment. Today, a new adventure begins with Alpine, and the F1 team will be a major asset for the brand’s development. Thank you, Jérôme, for your trust, advice, and loyalty.

Finally, Luca de Meo, the CEO of Renault added:

« Jérôme’s connection with the company and his belief that motorsport is part of the brand’s DNA contributed to Renault’s return to Formula 1 as a full-fledged team. His experience and expertise, gained during his career at Renault, have been essential assets in structuring and advancing our F1 team. For all this work accomplished over the past five years, thank you Jérôme. »
